Sperber’s distinction between intuitive beliefs (wired into one’s other beliefs, driving action) and reflective beliefs (held at arm’s length, stated and shared but often inert in action). Chapter 7’s account of what the floor spreads rests on it: most alarming material is forwarded as a reflective belief, a coalition-marker, not an intuitive one that moves behavior.
